MMCKR Aggiornamenti Cooker/2012 al 31/07/2012 ore 08:32
E rieccomi qua bello abbronzato dopo 2 settimane di ferie.
Purtroppo il rientro è stato shoccante visto che mi è toccato lavorare di domenica subito dopo il rientro, questo ha fatto ritardare l’uscita della rubrica di 2 giorni.
A quanto pare non sono l’unico ritardatario, la tanto attesa versione alpha della Mandriva 2012 doveva essere rilasciata il 27 luglio ma ancora non se ne vede traccia.
Comincio a che a preoccuparmi per la sparizione di FBui, l’ultimo kernel stabile è stato rilasciato il 6 giugno e da allora non si è mossa una foglia ed ora c’è già in giro il kernel 3.5.0.
Non vorrei che il passaggio della distro alla fondazione non sia servito anche a fare dei tagli ulteriori sul personale.
A proposito della fondazione direi che, almeno come la vedo io, non sta andando per niente bene, mi sembra che tutti vogliano fare i generali ma ben poca gente si è poi rimboccata le maniche per mettersi a lavorare.
Quelli che lavorano sono sempre gli stessi e fanno del loro meglio ma il calo nei rilasci è più che evidente, in luglio sono stati ricompilati solo 2615 pacchetti, quasi la metà di quelli ricompilati da Mageia per Couldron.
Ma veniamo alle belle notizie, a parte due installazioni fisiche defunte (tra cui la principale Cooker), le altre aggiornate domenica più o meno funzionano anche se decisamente fanno delle cose strane.
Le installazioni virtuali invece non hanno minimamente risentito della tempesta abbattutasi su systemd/udev e continuano a funzionare al 100%.
Purtroppo in questo periodo non ho molto tempo libero per cui dubito che riuscirò a trovarne per resuscitare la mia Cooker, i miei report pertanto saranno alquanto incompleti.
L’arrivo di KDE 4.8.97 si può dire quasi completo con il rilascio di 688 pacchetti Rpm pari a circa 722 MiB, mancano ancora dei pezzettini spari qua e la anche di una certa importanza alcuni dei quali, come kdeutils4, risalgono ancora alla 2011.
Ieri sera sono stati rilasciati, dopo lunghissima attesa, i driver Fglrx Legacy 8.97.100.3 che dovrebbero finalmente supportare le vecchie (si fa per dire) schede video ATI/AMD fino alle HD3xxx, in giornata vedrò di provarli per vedere se davvero funzionano.
Dato che il report risale al 29 luglio questi pacchetti non sono ancora in elenco.
Le principali novità di questi giorni sono:
- E’ arrivato il kernel linus 3.4.6 ma sconsiglio di installarlo, il pacchetto che di solito occupa circa 60MiB in questa versione ne occupa quasi 600, ho già segnalato il problema.
- Sono atterrati in Cooker un po’ di programmi nuovi, fra tutti segnalo Xombrero, un browser web minimalista.
- Asterisk penso abbia cambiato metodo di codifica e salta dalla versione 1.8.11.0 alla 10.6.1
- I driver NVidia crescono alla versione 304.22
- Dracut arriva alla versione 022
- Sia Firefox che Tunderbird arrivano alla versione 14.0.1
- Il compilatore Gcc cresce alla versione 4.7.2_2012.07
- Lo sviluppo di Mate avanza anche se sino ad ora non sono riuscito a farlo funzionare
- Playonlinux passa dalla versione 4.0.18 alla 4.1.1
- Wine cresce alla versione 1.5.9
- Numerosi pacchetti driver di X11 cambiano numero di versione
Come già detto la macchina principale è KO ho aggiornato la sua gemella e sono stati richisti circa 900 pacchetti, non so però quanti siano del primo aggiornamento e quanti dell’ultimo.
A parte il riavvio un po’ zoppicante non ho trovato altri problemi particolari ne durante l’aggiornamento ne al successivo riavvio sia con Cooker i586 che x86_64.
