MMCKR Aggiornamenti Cooker/2012 al 08/04/2012 ore 20:12
Oggi è un altro triste giorno per Mandriva, dopo circa un anno di più o meno pacifica convivenza il gruppo Rosa e penso anche il MIB hanno creato un fork (loro lo chiamano split, non so cosa voglia dire) di Mandriva.
Anche Pulfer, nota colonna portante di Mandriva, ha deciso di lasciarci (spero temporanemanete) con questo laconico messaggio:
I was asked to stop working on Cooker and to work on Rosa 2012 LTS instead. So I don’t submit many packages to Cooker anymore.

ROSA 2012 is a logical spin of Mandriva 2011. It’s not new, not use kmod, latest kernel, gcc and other stuff, but update KDE4, use LTS kernel, fix many bugs, update hardware stack.It’s not a community talking specificaton, because we haven’t many times for create this version.
After LTS release we public specification (after i approve in company).

Ammetto che ho capito poco di quello che ha detto.
Ma consoliamoci, morto un papa se ne fa un altro ed infatti è tornato prepotentemente fra noi Bero che anni fa lavorava per Mandriva.
In realtà non è arrivato proprio oggi ma in questi giorni ha preso in mano la situazione in modo imponente, giusto ieri ci ha regalato la versione 3.5.2 di LibreOffice, ha cercato anche di mettere una pezza al problema di Fglrx rilasciando i driver della versione 8.960 ma purtroppo anche loro risultano incompatibili con il server X 1.12.
Continuano ad arrivare alla spicciolata i pacchetti di KDE 4.8.1 e comincia timidamente a farsi vedere qualche pacchetto targato 4.8.2.
Sul fronte problemi nulla è stato ancora fatto, ora ce n’è uno nuovo relativo al reboot ma pare non dipenda da Mandriva, dovrebbe essere in arrivo una patch per risolverlo.
Proprio mentre scrivo Bero ha risolto il problema è lo ha comunicato in ML

Le altre novità di questi giorni sono:
- Sono atterrati in Cooker pezzi del nuovo Gnome 3.2 potrebbe anche darsi che hora sia anche possibile avviarlo.
- Il kernel 3.3 avanza arrivando alla versione 3.3.1
- Sono arrivati i kernel-linus 3.2.14 e kernel-rt 3.2.13
- Atterra in Cooker QTParted
- Asterisk passa alla versione 1.8.11.0
- I driver Fglrx crescono alla versione 8.960 ma non risolvono il oro problemi di compatibilità con il server X 1.12
- Virtualbox passa rapidamente alla versione 4.1.12
- L’ottimo Smplayer passa dalla versione 0.7.1 alla 0.8.0
- Wine abbandona rapidamente la versione 1.4 e passa alla versione 1.5.1, mi devo informare se hanno introdotto il supporto USB.
- Parecchi pacchetti XFCE passano alla versione 4.9.x

Per l’aggiornamento della macchina di riferimento sono stati aggiornati di 277 pacchetti Rpm.
A parte i soliti problemini non ne ho trovati di nuovi ne durante l’aggiornamento ne al successivo riavvio sia con Cooker i586 che x86_64.
